For this month’s Employee Spotlight, we are showcasing a talented member of our customer sales team, Christina Crabtree! Christina is known throughout our office for being an extremely talented, relationship-driven customer sales rep, but also for being a lynchpin of company culture. From ensuring birthdays get celebrated to her leopard print accessories, her presence in the office every day has truly helped shape the comradery of Velocity.
Take a look at what Christina had to say about our team, our culture, and her role at Velocity:
How long have you been with Velocity Transport?
I started back in May of 2019, so coming up on a full year! Before Velocity, I worked as a dispatcher in Fort Worth, then went back to school at UNT. I actually started at Velocity a week after graduation!
How did you find out about Velocity and what made you want to join?
Some members of the Velocity team actually participated in a job fair at UNT that was centered on careers in logistics. I was immediately attracted to the start-up atmosphere and loved the opportunity to grow with a company. Their bright green table stood out to me as well!
What does the day-to-day life of a customer sales representative look like?
Oh wow, the word that immediately comes to mind is multi-faceted. I start by checking on loads, then I update customers and the carrier team to make sure everything is taken care of. From there, I start building new loads and then transition to calling potential customers and looking for new opportunities.
That’s just me though! The beauty of Velocity is that everyone gets to handle their responsibilities in their own way. I love that freedom.
What’s it like being a woman is such a male-dominated industry?
I love accepting challenges and I love pushing against standards and norms, so it just adds an additional layer of motivation. It pushes me to prove myself even more. I don’t want to just be the best woman in the industry, I want to be the best in the industry in general.
I have also discovered how to turn it into a strength. I find that customers are fast to open up to me and I get to know personal details really early on that help me craft a better customer experience for them!
What Christina’s Customers Have To Say:
“I felt an immediate connection to Christina. The way she approaches her customers with confidence and knowledge of the industry while maintaining a warm, friendly voice was a welcome change.
She’s upfront & honest about her rates and she lets me know of realistic market challenges in certain lanes on a daily basis. Her communication is absolutely top-notch, and I’ve even had traders tell me that they appreciate her emails.
I am a firm believer that our industry is built on relationships and trust, and she’s built that up with me. I’m so glad she’s being recognized for it!”

What aspect of your job brings you the most pride or gratification?
This is an easy one. The numbers on the board. Seeing that number grow pushes you to go harder. This week, a coworker and I were neck & neck and that created a friendly competition to find that last load to put one of us in front.
How would you describe company culture at Velocity?
The best way to put it is easy-going but exciting. You have support from all angles when you need it, but you also have autonomy. It’s really the best of both worlds. At the end of the day, we’re all given everything we need to succeed.
How would you pitch Velocity to someone considering joining the team?
It’s such an exciting time to join! We’re a great company to grow with, and we’re seriously growing. We’re constantly bringing on new great people, but there is always room for more. It’s fast-paced, but you have all the support you need. You really do have an opportunity to grow.
Can you tell us a little bit about the extra responsibilities you’ve taken on in the office?
Of course! I want everyone to enjoy coming to work and I’m passionate about comradery. So, I make sure that every month we get cupcakes and birthday cards for all the office birthdays, and help to organize contests, cookoffs, and other events like that. I’m really social and I’m a serious planner, so it’s something I just enjoy doing.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love hanging out with friends and family. Whether I’m having a girls night or seeing my nieces & nephews, if I’m with them, I’m happy. Beyond that, I love taking my dogs to the dog park or doing anything outdoors with them.
